What the connector lets you do
Adding re:cap to Claude lets you ask about your own company's figures in plain language, and get answers computed the way re:cap computes them. Claude can read your scorecard, liquidity, P&L, bank cash flow, transactions, business plan and invoices — and it can also read re:cap's own definition of every metric, so it reproduces our numbers instead of inventing its own.
Things people ask:
- “What is our runway, and how exactly did you calculate it?”
- “Reconcile our ARR against the P&L for the last twelve months and show me where they diverge.”
- “Which months of accounting data are missing or incomplete?”
- “What were our largest cash outflows last quarter, and which of them are still untagged?”
- “Walk me through our scorecard and tell me where we are weakest.”
- “Draft a forecast scenario in which we hire two engineers in Q4.”
Because Claude reads our metric definitions before answering, a figure it quotes should match what you see in the platform. If it does not, ask it which definition it used — that usually reveals a company view or currency mismatch.
The connector surfaces the same figures and analysis you already see in the platform. It does not make or communicate funding decisions.
Where you can use it
- claude.ai in the browser
- The Claude desktop app for Mac and Windows
- The Claude mobile apps, once the connector is added to your account
- Claude Code, for anyone who works in the terminal
Adding the connector once on claude.ai makes it available across the Claude apps you sign in to with that account. Custom connectors are a paid-plan feature, and on Team and Enterprise plans an administrator can restrict which ones are allowed — if you cannot see the Connectors settings, ask whoever administers your Claude workspace.
Add the connector
On claude.ai or in the desktop app
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Enter the name re:cap and the URL https://mcp.re-cap.com/mcp.
- Confirm, then choose Connect and sign in with your normal re:cap account in the browser window that opens.
- Start a new chat. The re:cap tools appear in the tools menu; ask Claude to list your companies to check the connection.
In Claude Code
Claude Code needs only the URL and handles sign-in itself. Run claude mcp add --transport http recap https://mcp.re-cap.com/mcp, then /mcp inside Claude Code to complete the login.
Signing in
- You sign in with your normal re:cap account. There is no API key to create, store, or rotate, and you never paste a password or token into Claude.
- If your account has two-factor authentication enabled, you complete it in that browser login as usual.
- Claude stores and refreshes the resulting access token itself. re:cap never shares your password with Anthropic.
- Access is scoped to the companies your account can already see in the app. Every request is checked against your access before any data is returned, and connecting Claude does not widen the permissions you already have.
What Claude can read
- Metrics — the current scorecard, the same metrics as a monthly time series, and liquidity figures such as runway, average monthly burn and cash balance.
- Metric definitions — re:cap's own definition of a metric: the formula, the data behind it, how much history it needs, and when it reports as not computed. Around 155 metrics are documented.
- Accounting — monthly P&L line items with forecast months flagged separately, the coverage window per month, and the underlying documents and files.
- Banking — connected accounts, transactions, the full tag hierarchy including your own project tags, and bank-derived cash flow.
- Invoices — receivable invoices, customers, and a receivables summary.
- Forecast and plan — your uploaded business plan, the forecast, and the inputs behind it.
- Assessment — fundability check, covenant monitoring, capital advisory, qualitative company review and data quality check.
- Data connections — what is feeding the numbers, and how fresh it is.
- Product logic — our pre-approved answers on how re:cap works, in re:cap's own wording.
What Claude can change
Most of what Claude can do is read-only. A few actions write back into re:cap, and no action deletes a bank connection, an accounting document, or your company data.
- Forecast — create a scenario, update one, and apply changes to it. A separate preview returns the diff without changing anything.
- Transaction tagging — assign transaction categories. This replaces any previously active tags in the same category, so ask Claude to preview the diff first.
- Capital advisory inputs — correct the inputs behind your advisory report, which republishes it.
- Data quality — save the result of a data quality check.
- Company research — request a research run for your company.
Claude asks for your approval before it uses a tool. You can allow a tool for the rest of a conversation or approve it each time — keep the write actions on per-use approval if you want to see every change before it happens.
Where your data goes
- Our software is developed and hosted in Germany, and all financial and business data from our customers is stored and processed in Germany.
- We use 256-bit bank-level encryption.
- When you use the connector, the data Claude requests leaves re:cap and is processed by Anthropic under Anthropic's own terms. Only the data needed to answer a given question is sent — Claude requests it per question rather than copying your account.
Reviewing and revoking access
- Remove the connector under Settings, then Connectors in Claude. The token Claude stored is discarded.
- Because access is tied to your re:cap account, it also ends when that account loses access to the company.
- If you are reviewing the connector for an IT or security team and need more detail than this page carries, write to support@re-cap.com.
